Thank you for volunteering to be a Scout leader! Your role is invaluable in making the Scout program work for all of our boys.

You will find it easier to do your job once you get trained for your position. 
Pack 195 will make every effort to get you connected to convenient training sessions because we believe "every Scout deserves a trained leader." The list of training sessions currently scheduled in the Japeechen District of the Greater Pittsburgh Council of the Boy Scouts of America can be found on the District Training Calendar.
In addition, the Boy Scouts of America requires all leaders to receive Youth Protection Training for the safety of all Scouts and Scouters. It is available online, along with Leader Fast Start Training, at the BSA Online Training Center.
 
Cub Scout Pack 195 is chartered by St. Catherine of Sweden Church, a parish in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh. As a volunteer within this origanization, all of our leaders need to receive the clearances required by the Diocese. You will need to get this done as soon as possible in order to work with the youth in the Pack.
 There are four items you need to submit:

Diocesan Database Clearance Application

To complete a clearance application for the Diocese of Pittsburgh database start HERE

State PA clearances

Submit a signed copy of PA Child Abuse History Clearance to St Catherine's.

Note: The application asks you to submit a "Request for Criminal Record (SP4-164)" form but it will be done online with the clearance application. If the application is approved, the certificate will be mailed directly to your home. You will need to bring the original to St Catherine's to be kept on file there.

Protecting God's Children class

You must take the Protecting God's Children class through the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
You can find and register for classes online at http://www.virtus.org/
Click on the "Registration" link along the left side to go to: https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/reg_0.cfm?theme=0.
Select "View a list of sessions" then use the drop-down menu to choose "Pittsburgh (diocese)".
Choose the session best for you from the list of scheduled classes. You must pre-register to attend, either directly with the parish offering the class by calling the person/number listed, or online by paging back on the Virtus website to select "Begin the registration process" then create your user name and password. Fill in the requested information from the session list. After you attend the class, turn in a copy of the completion certificate to the St. Catherine's religious education office.

Signed Code of Pastoral Conduct

Submit a signed copy of the Code of Pastoral Conduct from the back pages of the booklet received at the Protecting God's Children class.
